Who Is Nugg : The Mind Behind the Music
Nugg is a French composer, beatmaker, and sound designer from the northwest of France. A self-taught artist, he began producing seriously in 2022 and quickly made an impact with his first major placement: Blow by Jeune Morty, featured on the artist’s debut EP released by Universal Music that same year. Since then, Jeune Morty has grown steadily, now reaching hundreds of thousands of monthly listeners, confirming Nugg’s early instinct for working with artists poised to break through.
Firmly rooted in the Angers music scene, Nugg has become a central figure in local production, collaborating with the city’s most active studios, engineers, and upcoming talents. One of the talents he developed, ENNIO, is now opening for shows in front of 1,500+ people: a testament to Nugg’s commitment to long-term artistic growth rather than transactional production.
In 2024, he composed the main score for On Way Ginette, a short film awarded at the LiftOff Festival in Paris and preselected for a Los Angeles festival. The film is receiving strong feedback on Letterboxd, including: “A goldmine that will serve its director for a long time.” Nugg’s score (anchored by an original theme expanded into a vocal track) recurs throughout the film and defines much of its emotional rhythm.
His musical influences reflect a pursuit of critical depth and sonic originality: John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Roy Ayers, Nas, Massive Attack, Justice, Vampire Weekend, The Weeknd, and more...
His vision: to create striking, image-driven music that stands outside trends and resists imitation. He opposes generative AI and the culture of musical replication. Every track is crafted with intention : a sonic piece that aims to endure.
So if your project demands music that leaves a mark, Nugg is the one to call.
